Do you see it? The plant has not left Earth, yet it reaches into the Heavens. Its broad leaves soak up heavenly light and return true nourishment to its earthly realm. I think this plant lives in heaven and on earth.
God’s Garden – Seeing Earth From Heaven
I will enter the heavens to see the earth
God planted a garden there
The trees that He planted have offered their fruit
Each seed has been sown in the ground
In warmth and in moisture
And blindness of dark
The terrestrial body gives way
In brokenness offering its life to the earth
Comes a new form up, winding its path
Celestial body still planted in earth
Stretching and growing above
Turning and reaching for heavenly light
Broad leaves seek for nourishment there
Green earth and the light mix a marvelous way
Restoring to earth life and breath.
The day I wrote this poem, I felt myself lifted above the earth. I saw … I saw earth covered with trees of all sorts. Each tree brought forth fruit, and as I watched, the fruit ripened and opened until mature seeds dropped down to the ground.
I saw the little seeds in the darkness under the ground. I felt my darkness, my blindness, my choice to lay down my life. Then I saw a broken seed release a slender green shoot which began winding upward and digging until it broke through the soil and found light.
It grew and grew and put forth many wide leaves. It grew even out of earth’s atmosphere and into the vastness of space. Still it kept growing and turning to find light. I looked far down the long stem back to the earth where it was still planted securely in the ground.
1 Corinthians 15:42-43 “So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power”
